The board sling was originally designed to help in the carrying of the surfboard as at the time of the invention there was no suitable carrying device. Other devices would leave the carrier with the same sore back problems that's associated with the offset lean created by carrying an awkward size/shape board.

The one thing that I noticed pretty quick with the Boardsling is that when I forget to throw it into my car I get to the beach and wonder how I ever lived without out. The trick is now that I never take it off the board. That's just another cool feature of this surfboard carrier. You can hang your board straight onto the wall of your garage or room by the strap. So when you get back from a surf the Boardsling surfboard carrying system actually doubles as a tidy board rack too. Of course that also means that you can't forget it the next time you head out. Just unhook it off the wall, throw it over your shoulder and you're outa there!
